Sketchbook - natural forms

Lately I have been focusing on drawing natural forms. I find them more complex and interesting than man made objects. Above are some bones I found on the foreshore near Tate Modern, they had been in the thames so long they had turned a dark ebony colour.

The french term for still life is 'nature morte'. I can't help but think of the objects I chose as either, from something that is now dead (like the horses tooth above, also found mudlarking) or something living.

The fine pen I was using gives a texture which recalls intaglio printmaking; when I can get to a print studio, I will make some etchings from these drawings.
