Sketching commuters - on the train

On my morning and evening commute to Vauxhall from Upper Warlingham, I have been drawing my fellow passengers.

Rather than switching off like I usually do, drawing makes me more alive to the people in the carriage, I perceive it differently. It is strange to see so many people packed in together, but each in their own head.

Sleeping people are good to draw but they tend to move more than people watching tablets, who are completely absorbed.

The gentleman above was very peaceful and composed, it was clear he was meditating rather than sleeping.
