I want my sculpture to be abstract in shape, but with reference to the human figure. I am particularly looking at falling figures. The idea of falling has many connotations, but for me it represents falling ill and relapse. I have been studying the shapes of falling figures and translating them into simpler forms. The sculpture will be suspended from above and I plan to explore balance and movement in hanging them.
I have been looking at William Blake's paintings of falling figures and making rough sketches.
